Completed in August, 1906, Xizhimen Railway Station was a part of the famous Jingzhang Rail designed by Jeme Tien Yow, a distinguished Chinese railroad engineer. It was renamed as Pingsui Rail Xizhimen Railway Station in 1923. In 1988, its named was changed into Beijing North Railway Station.
After a four years’ renovation (2005 – 2008), the brand-new Beijing Railway Station was put into use on January 17, 2009. Except the S2 bullet trains, there are also trains that run between Beijing and cities of Inner-Mongolia, such as Baotou, Hohhot, Chifeng, Qiqihar and Manzhouli.
